It's accessible, but is it inclusive? Life in the grey areas

    When ticking boxes isn't enough.
A train station with step-free entry but nowhere to sit with a tired toddler. A soft play café with ramped access but only high stools inside. Technically accessible, yes, but truly inclusive?

Our latest blog explores the crucial gap between meeting compliance standards and creating genuinely welcoming spaces. Through honest, personal stories of navigating everyday life as a family with different needs, we unpack what inclusion really looks like in practice.

The reality: Accessibility gets you through the door. Inclusion makes you want to stay.

June member insights: Supporting carers in the workplace

One in seven employees are unpaid carers, yet this vital group often remains invisible in our organisations. At our recent member community event, we explored how employers can better support colleagues with caring responsibilities.

When we asked members to rate their organisation's support for carers, whilst 67% felt they provided good support, a significant 33% acknowledged they only offered some support. This honest assessment sparked valuable discussions about practical solutions.

Our members shared approaches that work: clear carers' leave policies, staff networks for peer support, and flexible working arrangements. The conversation highlighted how support needs vary across different roles and the importance of taking an intersectional approach.
